--- Write a list of targets, of everyone whos hurt you. (YOUR VIOLENT LACK OF VIRTUE) It had only taken the drop of a pen to wake Matthias up, especially on his mornings off from going to school. Usually the nights before he partied, and somehow, magically seemed to find his way back to their apartment. Their, referring to his and Blake's and two other room mates whom he didn't much see to eye to with at all. A grumble was heard as the skeletal boy turned over onto his stomach and slammed his hand down on his alarm clock. The continuous ringing was making his headache worse, and he rubbed his temples as he looked at his bedside table. Multiple beer bottles, and one half empty were still there, some had tipped over however, spilling their remains onto the hardwood floor.
He let out a grunt then and sat up, holding his head. "Blaaaaakeee..." he groaned, as he looked at the doorway. His vision a bit blurry due to his immensely painful headache. He lied back on his bed then, it's sheets and covers torn up as if he'd had a fight with them. He had nightmares a lot, so a good night sleep for him was rare. "Blake!" he said then a bit more sharply, not that he was mad. He was in horrid shape, and the pounding in his head wasn't subsiding. He still heard no noise from the girl's room so he stood up stumbling a bit before catching himself. He made his way out the door, steering himself toward the bathroom. He clumsily flipped the light on and turned on the water, as he grabbed a towel. He put some water on a piece of the towel and washed his face with soap before turning to his room. He looked at his room now, after leaving the bathroom, with a cleaner vision.
A damn wreck, he sighed then and walked to where the beer had spilled on the floor. He bent down, and began wiping it up, being a bit more responsible for his own mess than usual. Most of the time, he left his room without doing jack shit to it, and usually Blake was the one to make it pretty for him. But since he had found out Blake didn't really love him, he'd been a bit bitter. His usual teasing of Hayden had grown a bit more serious, and it was obvious that Matt was suffering somehow. He turned as he heard someone enter the room behind him, he stood up. His eyes looking at the figure a bit more dangerously than he meant to look at them, mostly due to his blind state. All he could see was the outline, and he held his hand out then. "Blake?" he said, walking forward. His stance motioning the want for a hug, since he owed her an apology for how he'd acted the afternoon before. Another one of his anger spells, and he had to again tell Blake what he said, he hadn't meant.

Blake sighed, running a hand through waist length blonde hair. She knew that sound and had already scurried off to the kitchen for the essentials. Matty had come in last night in a fit, as normal and been nasty. She’d just simply stood and taken it, letting him rage before she managed to get him into his room and into bed. He’d been stumbling drunk and for the five foot skeleton that she was, it had been a challenge. Though it was something she was used to, and no matter how nasty he was to her, she wasn’t going to leave him. It wasn’t in her. They weren’t dating or even lovers for that matter, he was like an older brother to her, her best friend and someone who had been their constantly throughout her life.
Blue eyes looked towards the bathroom as she heard water running, making sure she had enough aspirin and some water as well as something for his hangover. She’d learned quickly to keep the essentials around and had a tendency to look after him, cleaning his room and making sure that everything he needed was in order. It was odd, yes, for someone who didn’t know her, but for her it was normal. Blake hardly ever spoke with the roommates they had, often ending up cycling through roommates because of Matty and she usually ended up cleaning and handling the changes in roommates. She was younger than he was, by a year, but most people thought it was by more because of how fragile she looked. She bit her lower lip, a bad habit she had yet to break, when she was nervous or upset and she simply fluttered around the small kitchen area, bringing a bottle of Gatorade back for him.
She appeared at the doorway, almost as if she were summoned, shifting some before she moved in, placing the aspirin in his hand and opening the water bottle for him. She sighed, reading into him and coming up, wrapping her arms around his midsection. She wasn’t mad at him, not at all, and it took a lot for her to get mad. Usually she’d cry and break down far before she got mad, but that wasn’t the case. Here, all she did was snuggle in to him, resting her head on his chest for a moment before she finally spoke. “Go back to bed, Matty. I’ll clean up,” was all she said, her voice soft as usual.

--- Write a list of targets, of everyone whos hurt you. (YOUR VIOLENT LACK OF VIRTUE) Matthias took the medicine and Gatorade, and knocked the pills back as he took a swig of the Gatorade. He hated medicine, but was glad it existed. He screwed the top back on the Gatorade securely then and bent his knees a bit, to hug her back so she was comfortable. He didn't understand guys who ignored the awkwardness of a shorter girl hugging a tall guy. He then turned and looked at his room,"I'm sorry..." he said, a bit shocked at the state of his room. The room mates knew better than to complain about it though, they had only made that mistake once. He shook his head at her statement. "Nah, I'll clean it up." He turned then picking her up, knowing she didn't like it much.
He set her on his bed and then lied down, cuddling her. "So Hayden huh..?" he asked, still questioning her from the afternoon before. Not that he was shocked, he wasn't. He'd kissed Blake before but he always knew, Hayden somehow had won her. That had only increased the jealousy of Matt for Hayden however, leaving a gaping wound in their relationship. But Matt could never really be mad at Blake, or even Hayden. He was just at a loss, a one down position. He knew Blake would be happier with Hayden, but he resented the fact that she loved Hayden and not him. But he knew she'd more than likely avoid the question.
He relaxed his arms around her then, not trying to trap her there. For he wouldn't be surprised if she found it awkward he was cuddling her, but to him it wasn't awkward. And Hayden wasn't going to walk in, due to Haydens schedule that day. Meaning a day free of Hayden for Matt, since Hayden's return just a few months before today. His return however had brought the downfall of ever having the hope of capturing Blake's love for him. For once Hayden had returned, she was always with Hayden. Matthias could only sit and watch the inevitable take place, the unrequited love as Blake had put it. He knew it all too well, but still he would remain Blake's friend. At least she still hugged him and treated him as someone close to her, he'd rather it be that way than her to shut him out.

Blake made a face at him, sighing some and shaking her head. She felt bad about it, about everything and hated making him upset. She didn't want him to be mad at her or hate her, and so she simply stayed with him. Blake couldn't leave him, she didn't have the ability to. That crucial independent streak that so many other people had was missing in her, beaten out of her by her mother. Blake could manage in a house where she had a defined role, but to honestly go out and fend for herself? Impossible. Blake would rather sit there and take abuse than stir the pot.
She eeped some and clung to Matthais, hating that she was so much smaller than he was, and it didn't bother him to pick her up. She closed her eyes tightly, burrowing against him until he lay down on the bed with her, and she snuggled up with him, not questioning it. She knew better than to question him, to speak up unless it was something important. Blake hated being yelled at, people being mean to her, and especially with Matty. She was happy Hayden was back, but cautious too. He'd left her behind and she'd only had Matthais at the time and he'd pretty much been the sole reason during that time that she was still alive.
It was her secret, her silence that she kept with her, never speaking up for fear that the brothers would be mad at her and she'd be left alone again. She'd known them for a long time, always tagging along behind them with a fascination for the outgoing and loudmouthed Hayden. He was so different from her and older than she was and she wondered at his fearlessness and never ending ability to talk while she'd been the silent one, the wide eyed and baby. It was Matt who had stolen her first kiss, long before Hayden ever did anything, and she couldn't deny that she cared for both of them. She kept up after Matthais, hiding behind him as Hayden did his thing, becoming bigger and larger than life. She'd been happy staying in the corner against the wall as a wallflower, surviving along to her own little world.
The question made her still, bite her lip and drop her head, almost like she was trying to disappear into Matthais' blankets. She hated the conflict, hated that she felt horrible about everything. It was something that she'd have to realize eventually, but she didn't want to answer him right then. It was usually safer letting Matt go through his emotions, to take it all out before anything happened. She barely summoned the courage to nod, closing her eyes and stilling before she managed to speak.
"Don't be sorry, Matty, please," she said, her voice never rising once or changing. It was always soft, almost barely audible and completely inaudible in a crowded, noise room. "You need to rest so don't worry about your room. I'll do it."

--- Write a list of targets, of everyone whos hurt you. (YOUR VIOLENT LACK OF VIRTUE) Matthias grunted at her statement concerning his rest. "I got it." he said, placing his left cheek on her shoulder. He could handle his own mess today, there was no use in her worrying about him much anymore. He had been alone before he met her, and he could go back to being alone. Or so he thought. He shut his eyes, listening the silence of the room. The only thing making noise was the air conditioner. Rushing air was the only thing he heard until he spoke, breaking the silence. "As long as he makes you happy." with that Matthias sat up.
He walked over to his chester drawers and opened a drawer. He retrieved a sleeveless white t-shirt and put it on, slipping his worn tight jeans on over it. Placing his DC Hat over his head, the bill facing backwards he then sat down in a chair and began putting on his shoes. "I guess Imma go out then....go hang around or something." he said with a shrug. He knew she'd leave to go to Hayden's soon and he'd show up there later. He looked at her then, his blue eyes almost sad looking before he stood up and turned toward the door. "See ya." he said with a casual flick of the hand in a good-bye motion. He trotted down the stairs and opened the front door, his wallet and keys in his pants pockets.
He should have known the attraction she had for his brother, Hayden. He just tried to convince himself that it wasn't real, otherwise thinking he was the person she loved. How could that be though? She had known Hayden longer, and had been attached to him before his absence. He considered it what he called false hope, the feeling of hope even when none should exist. And a lot of the time, he was greatly disappointed by that habit. Not that anyone could tell, they couldn't. He hid his sorrows and emotions so well sometimes, but around Blake they always managed to escape. Around Blake nothing was hidden, everything had light.

Blake immediately scrambled up in the bed, staring after Matt. She felt the rush of emotions, an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame. She blinked back a sudden wave of tears, sliding out of the bed and onto the floor, just behind him. She knew he didn't want to be around her and it killed her, bringing her hands up to rub at her eyes. She bit her lower lip, sinking back at the dismissal, never once uttering a sound. She was used to it, used to being tossed aside but it still hurt.
She sniffled some, once he was gone, and turned around and began picking up his room. She'd had no plans on seeing Hayden today, assuming he was busy with other people, those were more important. She flinched some as she hit the bed hard with her forearm, the only sign there was something wrong. She whimpered again, once she heard Matthais leave and that was when she cried.
It was only a moment before the tears stopped and she was up and moving, cleaning the room. Everything would be perfect, sheets and clothing washed, as it it never happened. She blinked as she gathered things up and moved, in her own world. She hummed lightky as she did it, no words in her tune as she walked. It was almost as if she was programmed. Blake moved like a whisper, no sound.
It wasn't long before she was rolling her sleeves down, one wash cycle done. She hid them, the ugly cuts and scars that marked deeper issues.
